Refund Policy
This policy describes how refunds for AlcheMagic In-App Purchases work. Apple Inc. is the merchant of record for all IAP; refund decisions are Apple's. We honor Apple's refund decisions and revoke the corresponding entitlements automatically.

1. Merchant of record
Apple Inc. is the merchant of record for every IAP made through AlcheMagic on iOS. Your transaction is governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/) and the Apple Sales Policies that apply in your country.
We never see your credit card, Apple ID, or billing address — only a pseudonymous originalTransactionId and product id sent through Apple's App Store Server Notifications.
2. How to request a refund
To request a refund, contact Apple directly through one of the following channels:
- iOS device: Settings → [your Apple ID] → Subscriptions / Purchase History → tap the transaction → Report a Problem → Request a Refund.
- Web: reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Phone: Apple Support in your country — see support.apple.com.
Apple decides on the refund based on their own criteria and applicable consumer law. The decision time varies (typically 48 hours to 7 days).
We cannot issue refunds ourselves; we have no payment instrument linked to your account.
3. What happens after Apple approves a refund
When Apple approves a refund, they send an App Store Server Notification v2 event (REFUND or REFUND_REVERSED) to our backend. Our handler does the following within seconds:
| Purchase type | Action |
|---|---|
| Non-consumable (permanent unlock) | Entitlement record marked revoked=true with reason apple_refund. The unlock disappears on next launch. |
| Consumable (currency pack) | If the consumable has not been spent, the balance is reduced by the refunded amount. If it has been spent, the entitlement record is marked revoked=true but in-game items already produced from spending it are not retroactively removed (we cannot prove which consumable funded which in-game expense). |
| Subscription | We do not offer subscriptions at launch. If we add them, the refund flow will be documented here. |
You do not need to contact us — the cascade is automatic. If you believe an entitlement was not revoked correctly, email privacy@arcaneduck.com with the Apple refund receipt and the in-app product id.
4. EU consumer rights (Directive 2011/83/EU and 2019/770)
If you are an EU consumer, you have the following statutory rights in addition to Apple's refund policy:
- 14-day right of withdrawal (Art. 9, Directive 2011/83/EU) for digital content purchases — unless you have started using the content. Because AlcheMagic IAP unlocks content immediately, you waive the 14-day right when you make the purchase (Art. 16(m) of the Directive — applies when the consumer gives prior express consent to immediate execution). The consent gate is the App Store purchase confirmation screen.
- Statutory remedy for non-conformity (Directive (EU) 2019/770) — if the purchased content is not delivered, fails to function, or differs materially from its description, you have the right to a remedy (repair, replacement, or refund) for 2 years from purchase. To exercise, email
privacy@arcaneduck.comwith the transaction id and the description of the non-conformity. We will work with Apple to resolve it.
EU consumer law overrides any limitation in this policy that would diminish your statutory rights. See the Terms of Service §8 for the parallel ToS clause.
5. Restore Purchases (re-downloading non-consumables)
If you reinstalled the app, switched devices, or did not see a purchase appear on your account, use Apple's Restore Purchases flow:
- In-app: Settings → Account → Restore Purchases. This asks Apple's StoreKit for the current entitlement set.
- Apple returns the live entitlement set; we re-verify each transaction against our ledger and grant any missing unlocks.
Restore Purchases is a free, repeatable operation. It is not the same as a refund — it grants you content you already paid for and did not receive.
6. Fraud / chargebacks
If we detect a chargeback or a pattern of refund abuse, we may suspend the account pending review per the Terms of Service §10. Affected users are notified by email if we have one on file (we typically do not — see the Privacy Policy §3).
We do not retaliate by deleting cloud save data for refund requests submitted in good faith — entitlements are revoked, but progress and settings remain.
7. Tax
Apple collects all applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) at the price displayed on the App Store. Tax-related refunds are handled by Apple. We do not adjust tax independently.
